2008 ACI-NA Insurance and Risk Management Conference
January 16-18 – ACI-NA recently held its annual Insurance and Risk Management Conference in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The conference attracted over 100 attendees including airport risk managers, claims specialists, insurance brokers, and consultants specializing in insurance and addressed critical airport risk management and insurance issues facing the industry, allowing attendees to explore how they can ensure that their airport properly assesses risk/premium tradeoffs in order to optimize liability protection.

Insurance Coverage Requirements Pilot Project
2006 -- The Committee rolled out a pilot project to aide airports in the assessment of insurance coverage requirements of business partners. Phase I of the project began with analyzing the insurance and indemnification section of airline use/lease agreements. The project will continue to research the insurance requirements of other airport tenants, including contractors, concessionaires, and fixed based operators for 2008.

Final Summary of Insurance Coverage Benchmarking Survey
September 2006 -- The Insurance Coverage Benchmarking Survey was initiated on October 31, 2005 as a project for the Insurance Working Group. The survey form, which covered airport liability, property, auto liability, environmental and workers’ compensation insurance coverage, was sent to ACI-NA member airports to aide in assessing the adequacy of coverage. The results were designed as a tool for airports to benchmark their coverage. According to FAA’s calendar year 2005 traffic report, a total of 41 airports responded to the survey, including 14 large hubs, 13 medium hubs, 7 small hubs, 5 non-hub primary airports, and 2 commercial service airports. The final summary report was released in August 2006.
