2012 Communications Contest Site Now Open

The ACI-NA Marketing and Communications Committee has re-vamped the Excellence in Airport Marketing & Communications Contest for 2012 with new categories and a new timeline.

The contest’s online entry portal opens today and will close on March 15 – the deadline day. Like last year, airports can post their entries and then pay their entry fees online. The per entry fee continues to remain frozen at $80.

New for 2012 will be an awards ceremony at the Marketing and Communications Conference on June 6 in Sacramento. For the first time the winners will be recognized in a setting with their peers. Adopting a practice used by the Commercial Management Committee’s Concessions Contest, the winners of the Peggy G. Hereford Excellence in Communications Award as well as the category awards will not be announced in advance. All 50-plus award winners will be recognized at the ceremony.

With a June awards ceremony, the contest’s eligibility period has been changed. July 1, 2011, to March 1 is the 2012 contest entry period.

In addition, the contest was expanded to 20 categories. The three new categories will recognize the best efforts in crisis communications, community outreach and airport apps. The 2012 Call for Entries, which contains more detailed category descriptions, has been posted on the website.
