Canada and United States Announce Plan to Increase Nexus Benefits

On May 8, the Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced they are planning to enhance the benefits for NEXUS members.  The NEXUS program allows travelers who have been vetted to receive expedited processing by Canadian and US officials.

The announced plans are to:

  • Waive the interview requirement for renewing NEXUS members provided that they have not had changes to their information and have maintained their low-risk status.
  • Conduct enrollment blitzes to expedite the processing of NEXUS applications.
  • Launch outreach and awareness plan to increase NEXUS enrollment numbers.

Earlier this year, a kiosk was placed at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to handle NEXUS members arriving in Canada.

These improvements are part of the Canada/US Beyond the Border Declaration and Action Plan.
