Each project was multi-modal, multi-jurisdictional or otherwise challenging to fund through existing programs.

From FY 2009 to 2012, the US DOT awarded TIGER Grants totaling over $35 million to Yellowstone International Airport, Columbus Regional Airport Authority, and San Bernardino Airport for access road projects; and over $65 million to Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, and Central Pennsylvania for projects connecting light rail/railway systems with airports.
