New Sustainability Newsletter - May 2013

The Environmental Affairs Committee Sustainability Working Group has released the fourth Sustainability Newsletter! As usual, a big thanks to the Working Group co-Chairs, Cynthia Parker of Phoenix Sky-Harbor and Gene Peters of Ricondo & Associates for putting together these newsletters! Thanks to all the guest contributors as well - their insight helps to make this publication a great way to stay up to day on the latest sustainability initiatives in the industry!

The May 2013 edition features Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in the "Green Airport Spotlight" for their leadership in environmental stewardship.  Not only does the airport have impressive energy efficiency and recycling programs and an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system, they are leaders in the field of carbon sequestration!  Montreal-Trudeau is the first airport authority to sell carbon credits on a voluntary market.

The newsletter also features guest blogger Patrick Magnotta of the Federal Aviation Administration, who provides an update on the Agency's environmental programs and activities, including the Zero-Emissions Vehicle Pilot Project, airport solar installation guidance and the Sustainable Master Plan Program.  Robert Freeman of Los Angeles World Airports shares the latest on the recycling synthesis report put together by industry and the FAA, and FAA's upcoming recycling guidance for the master planning process.  Don't miss the progress updates on a number of environmentally-related ACRP projects as well!

Please feel free to share this newsletter with you colleagues, and if you have a feature idea for the next edition, please contact Katherine Preston at
