Remembering Charlie Lombardo; ACI-NA Commissioners Committee Vice-Chair

By Paul Eubanks

It's with great sadness and a heavy heart to report to you that ACI-NA Commissioners Committee Vice-Chair, Charlie Lombardo, passed away unexpectedly this past week at his home in Burbank, California.

As many of us know, Charlie was an incredible advocate for the Bob Hobe Airport and served as both a Commissioner and Board Chair, representing the city of Burbank, for the Burbank/Glendale/Pasadena Airport Authority for nearly 13 years.

Charlie was also an instrumental member of the ACI-NA Commissioners Committee and Executive Committee leadership team.  As such, he was expected to take over as the incoming Committee Chair during the upcoming ACI-NA Annual Conference & Exhibition in San Diego.

Charlie's work with the airport authority was highlighted in yesterday's Glendale News-Press.

I had the privilege to work with Charlie on many occasions.  In fact, just last week we talked over the phone about his on-going work to identify potential sponsors to support the ACI-NA Commissioners Scholarship Fund; a cause that he was extremely passionate about.  Charlie was also excited to work with ACI-NA in hosting next year's Airport Board Members & Commissioners Conference in Pasadena, California.

His personality was filled with humor and a passion for living life to the fullest.  I am forever grateful to have met and worked with him while at ACI-NA.

Thank you Charlie…here's to you!
