Small Community Air Service Development Program-Request for Proposals

The U.S. Department of Transportation recently issued its Order Soliciting Small Community Grant Proposals for the Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASD) for fiscal year 2013.  A copy of the order and notice is also available on www.regulations.gov under Docket DOT-OST-2013-0120.

The Small Community Air Service Development Program was established under the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century (AIR-21) and reauthorized under the Vision 100-Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act.  The program is designed to provide financial assistance to small communities to help enhance air service.  The DOT provides assistance in the form of financial grants that are disbursed on a reimbursement basis.

Appropriations for SCASD are provided for pursuant to the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (P.L. 112-95).  This year Congress has appropriated DOT up to $11.5 million for the SCASD program.  Project deadline applications should be submitted to the DOT no later than 5:00pm on Friday, July 26, 2013.
