YVR’s Autism Informational Travel Booklet

Community Education & Outreach

To help facilitate the safe and pleasant travel of all passengers, YVR and the Canucks Autism Network launched a series of resources to help families living with autism navigate the unique obstacles of travelling. One such tool is the story booklet entitled I Can Fly with YVR, an interactive, step-by-step guide. Storybook features include:

• A “road map” outlining travel, to be followed by families on their journey through various steps of the preflight routine
• A laminated guide with an accompanying rewriteable pen, this resource offers a scavenger hunt-style checklist for completion, which can help reduce anxiety by increasing predictability for travellers with autism
• This colourful 36-page saddle-stitched booklet features an engaging, animated design.
